Trial by Jury
Hannah Overbey returns to the Fargo-Moorhead Opera stage as a member of the Trial by Jury chorus. This hilarious, one-act opera by Gilbert and Sullivan is paired with the 2015 opera Scalia/Ginsburg by Derrick Wang.
Performances are Friday, February 28 at 7:30, and Sunday, March 2 at 2pm at Concordia College’s Comstock Theatre. More information can be found at fmopera.org
Giulio Cesare, Sesto
Hannah Overbey will once again perform at the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, this time as the vengeful Sesto in G.F. Handel’s opera Giulio Cesare. Details TBA
The Little Mermaid, Music Direction
Gooseberry Park Players presents its 2024 annual production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This musical tells the tale of a little mermaid who will give up anything, even her voice, to experience life above the surface.
Hannah Overbey is thrilled to once again aid Dr. Karisa Templeton in music direction. Over the summer, Hannah worked with nearly 60 students, raging from 6-12th grade to instruct them on the basics of healthy vocal production as well as prepare the music for their production. Fiddler on The Roof
Act Up Theatre presents Fiddler on the Roof. This contemporary portrayal of the show will be entertaining, impactful and timely, as every day our world is witnessing examples of intolerance of groups via forced relocations, entrenched prejudice, social disadvantage and political persecutions.
Hannah joins the company for the first time as Fruma Sarah and Ensemble.
Turandot, Chorus
Fargo-Moorhead Opera presents Turandot, Puccini’s ultimate masterpiece. This production is opera at its finest and largest, and tells the story of a foreign prince’s mission to solve riddles, and win the hand of Princess Turandot. Hannah Overbey is excited to join FMO for her fourth production with the company and will be singing in Turandot’s chorus.
Serses, Arsamenes
Hannah Overbey joins the Halifax Summer Opera Festival 2023 season as Arsamenes in G.F. Handel’s opera Serses. One of Handel’s most popular operas, Serses tells the story of mistaken identity, power plays, and (in)fidelity.
The production runs from August 18 to August 20. More details to come.
The Descendants, Music Direction
Gooseberry Park Players presents its 2023 annual production of Disney’s The Descendants. This musical tells the story of the descendants of classic villains and heroes and their journey to discover their own identities in spite of their parents’ backgrounds.
Hannah Overbey is thrilled to jump into the role of assistant music director. Aiding Dr. Karisa Templeton, she worked with nearly 60 students, raging from 6-12th grade to instruct them on the basics of healthy vocal production as well as prepare the music for their production. Side by Side by Sondheim, Soloist
Hannah Overbey will be performing as a featured soloist in her second production with Straw Hat Players: Side by Side by Sondheim. This Tony Award-winning musical is a perfect introduction to the work of this contemporary master and a must for diehard fans. Featuring music from Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, not to mention the classics written with musical theatre giants.
The production runs from June 6 to June 8.
A Grand Night for Singing, Soloist
Hannah Overbey will be performing as a featured soloist in the Straw Hat Players’ production of the musical revue A Grand Night for Singing. This production features the music and lyrics from one of Broadway’s most successful collaborations, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Hear songs from across their musical canon, including hits from Carousel, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The Sound of Music, and many more.
A Grand Night for Singing runs from May 30-June 1 at 7:30 in Gaede Hall
This is Hannah Overbey’s debut production with the company.
La bohème, Chorus
Fargo-Moorhead Opera presents Puccini’s timeless classic La Bohème. This opera, upon which the musical RENT is based, tells the story of young love (and loss) of a group artists in Paris. Hannah Overbey is excited to join FMO for her third production with the company and will be singing in La Bohéme’s chorus.
Performances are Friday, March 31st at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00pm
